Rock Fig is grown for its sculptural trunk, prominent roots and heart-shaped leaves with reddish veins. It can be trained as a container specimen or grown as a landscape tree in a suitable warm site.

Growing notes

Provide sun, excellent drainage and water that is allowed to drain away; let the soil dry between waterings. Protect from freezing conditions. A ground-grown specimen can become a large tree; container growing and pruning are needed to manage size. A young plant may not yet have the swollen trunk of a mature specimen. It can lose leaves with cold or severe drought. This is an ornamental fig, not a common dessert fig tree.
